The International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC) is an organization that promotes excellence in the practice of family counseling by creating and disseminating first-class publications and media products, providing a forum for exploration of family-related issues, involving a diverse group of dedicated professionals in our activities, and emphasizing collaborative efforts. One of our most fruitful collaborations is with the NACFT , the National Academy for Certified Family Therapists. Membership applications for IAMFC and ACA are available on-line at www.counseling.org , by calling ACA at 1-800-347-6647 x.222, or by writing ACA, 5999 Stevenson Ave., Alexandria, VA 22304, USA.

IAMFC members also have the opportunity to engage in special interest networks for specific population issues. Participants have on-line discussions, network with others who have similar research interests often leading to writing partnerships, and help to disseminate the latest information. Some topics of interest include Blended Families, Counseling Offenders, Separation and Divorce Counseling, Substance Abuse, Mediation, MFT Training, Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Issues, Military Families, Sexual Offenders, Systemic Interventions in Mental Illness, Survivors of Sexual Abuse, Family Interventions in Schools, Multicultural Counseling, and Families and Violence. If you are interested in joining an interest group network, please contact Karen Eriksen, Ph.D. at keriksen@radford.edu .
